In my case:
- My monthly book group
- My weekly class on Early Victorian Britain
- Waking up next to Jenny
- The leaves changing colour as they fall
- Art exhibitions
- Well-written and captivating novels
- Playing CDs
- Chocolate
- The garden coming alive in the spring
- Scrabble
And plenty of other things I can't recall off the top of my head.
I can't imagine how miserable you must be if you have little to look forward to and you're just aimlessly dragging out the days.
My days go so fast I'm astonished to find that another month or another year have somehow sped by.
All those things I'm looking forward to are really eating up the calendar.
I'm glad you have an enjoyable life, Nick. It's great to have things to look forward to. We are trying to enjoy the warm temperatures as much as possible here.
ReplyDeleteBijoux: The temperature here is getting quite cool, currently 11C.
DeleteIt's those little things that make life worth living.

Linda: Indeed. Little things like a cat wanting to be stroked and fondled.
DeleteI agree with chocolate, especially this time of year.
ReplyDeleteMary: The taste of chocolate is divine!
DeleteNick, too many people overlook some of the simple joys of life in search of the "bigger" things. We try to keep a perspective on both. We no longer have a garden, so that one didn't apply and no classes on Early Victorian Britain, but I can substitute a weekly dominoes game group. We also like watching the changes in the river below our apt especially in the early morning hours, wrapping ourselves in comfy fleece jackets on outdoors fall walks, lighting candles earlier now.
ReplyDeleteBeatrice: Quite so, people often overlook the joys of the simple things. Gosh, I haven't played dominoes for a very long time! I don't have a river to watch but we get some fabulous sunsets and sunrises.
DeleteThere's nothing like a good book, or a walk on a crisp Autumn morning.

Ms Scarlet: Yes, I should have mentioned that I enjoy my daily walks round the neighbourhood. I'd prefer them in summer though!
